Clootie Dumpling goes on it's maiden voyage.
Within weeks of the website going live, I received my first overseas order. A gift wrapped Clootie to be sent to Les Adjots, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of south western France.
This was the test to see if my packaging was robust enough. The dumpling was wrapped in a cloot with a message from the dog to say ‘Happy Birthday Uncle Bobert, luv Hamish’ and sent on it’s way. I tracked the package thought it’s entire journey. Chuffed when an email arrived yesterday to say the dumpling had arrived in good time had gone down a treat. As you can see, the dumpling arrived in perfect condition.
Teeing off at at Prestwick St Nicholas Golf Club
I received an enquiry from the Prestwick St Nicholas Ladies Golf
Club asking if I could make mini Clootie Dumplings to sit as favours on the
table of the Ladies Past Captains Day Lunch on 30 August. Formed in 1893 it is one of the oldest
ladies’ clubs in the country and was instrumental in forming the Scottish
Ladies Golfing Association in 1904. I was delighted to be part of this special day. Here they are ready to tee off!

How much cloth for the Clootie Dumplings, what sizes, how many to cut, how much from one length of material and can I cut in a straight line? How much ribbon and in what lengths? String, gift tags, address labels, rubber stamps to procure and thankyou cards ordered. How many boxes, what size and what type of packing material to use? Postage rates, Royal Mail or courier? How do I set up an online account for the courier, book uplift times and track parcels? All this and of course, I made last minute changes to the website!
All is now calm, the perfect time to announce that the online shop is officially open.

I first set up my stall, 10 years ago at Milngavie Farmers’ Market. Since then, I have traded at many markets in Glasgow, met lots of great customers and enjoyed all Scotland’s weather has to offer. Now it is time for a new adventure, a website!
